Sander started photographing in the summer of 1999 when he was given his fathers old Canon AE-1. It was an analog single-lens reflex camera and a perfect camera to learn the photography basics. After a couple of hundreds of pictures, he bought himself a Canon EOS 300. Once again an analog single-lens reflex camera, but this time with auto-focus capabilities and better performance figures. He made over 2000 pictures with this camera.
As digital SLR cameras became more afforable and the resulting pictures from these cameras started to be comparable with film pictures, Sander received a Canon EOS 350d from his parents in 2005. From that moment on, photography started to play a bigger role in his life. Digital cameras offer the possibility to experiment more - as there are no printing costs - so he made many thousands of photos of miscellaneous subjects. Now, you can see the result in his portfolio that keeps receiving additions from his latest camera: a Canon EOS 5DmkII.
Sander graduated as a Master in Computer Science at the University of Twente. He works at Avanade, which is a global IT-consultancy company formed as a joint venture from Microsoft and Accenture. When Sander is not working or making pictures, he may well be watching Formula One Grand Prix' on sundays or you may catch him cycling or running around.
